ARTIST STATEMENT

I have always been inspired by love stories. Perhaps it has something to do with my innermost feelings, something closer to my heart. This sometimes reflects in my own paintings and poetry. So when Amir Mirza spoke to me about a curatorial venture, I immediately said yes because it’s something that I’m fond of.

For this exhibition, I’ve gathered love stories around and have tried to connect myself with them. The viewer will see all emotions and elements attached to love – happiness, sadness, loneliness, long waiting hours, meeting of lovers, separation and the moon – in my artworks. Admirers of art will feel their own love stories are being told in them. Probably, I see my story in them, too… for that’s how love tales work.

BIOGRAPHY

Tanweer Farooqi is a widely exhibited figurative painter who studied under the guidance of Eqbal Mehdi. Besides doing three solo shows, his work has been displayed at many group shows both nationally and internationally. Tanweer Farooqi also curated an award winning show at inaugural of IAF (Islamabad Art Festival) 2019. He is also currently the President of the Artists Association of Sindh and the Deputy Chairman Artists Association of Pakistan.
